A garden and a library

“If you have a garden and a library,
you have everything you need.”

-- Marcus Tullius Cicero

My library is currently in boxes, because my wooden floors are being refinished. You can't imagine how the contents of one little room will fill the rest of the house!I am so grateful for the respite of the garden.I'm willing myself to look beyond the weeds. It seems like I planned for them to cover this wagon, doesn't it? I think I'll leave them growing until I can't see the wagon anymore.I've decided to look past the plants that should be trimmed too. This one would have made a great Fourth of July picture, wouldn't it? I think I like it even better in this state than when it was in bloom.

  1. Your photography is really amazing Leslie! Just the thought of laying in the garden surrounded by sights such as these, puts me in the mood for a little out door nap.

  2. Ooooh! Look at your lush garden, Leslie! Your red wagon is so pretty with all the ivy (weeds?) growing around it. And you're right the...I don't know what it's called...the Fourth of July plant does look like an exploding fireworks, doesn't it? And I just bought a little echinacea (I'm totally guessing at the spelling of that plant)for my balcony. I hope I get visiting honeybees like you are soon!

  6. you know Leslie -

    I love the weeds...

    they are the wild things

    of the earth

they teach us about letting go

    and living in the moment

    and that a good mess

    is art in utero...

  9. Hi Leslie,
“If you have a garden and a library,
    you have everything you need.”
What a great quote! It looks pretty the way the green leaves are crawing on your little wagon! Like how you have watermarked your photos. They look great. A friend is going to give me something so I can do this on a mac. later this week.
Are you by any chance wanting to expand your library? My husband is a discerning reader and were getting rid of our books before we move. Let me know if you're interested. If you come to look, I can bring you out to Bodega for a peek!

    you are some photo*shooter,
    missy.

    that last one--
    of the reddish lily--
    had water dripping down
    off my screen
    onto my key*board...

    how did you do that?

  11. I really miss having a yard/garden - used to really enjoy gardening when I was in college in Colorado. Now save for a few potted plants in the house, that's about all I get to do.
