Sad Goodbye

Sadly, we lost Atticus yesterday after emergency surgery for bloat last week led to sepsis. As you may recall, I have been worried about his risk factors for years and did everything in my power to prevent him from experiencing bloat.

We are heartbroken that our time with this magnificent, gentle dog was cut short, but are grateful for the joy, the laughter and the unconditional love that he shared freely with everyone he met.

Rest in peace, buddy.

  2. Oh, my heart is so heavy for you. After losing our German Shepherd last year (he was one month shy of his 12th birthday!!) it sits heavy with me. I miss my Timber very much but like you, I was so blessed to have spent so many wonderful years with him. I hope your memories are a great comfort to you in this time. Atticus was certainly very beautiful!!

Atticus was simply wonderful. i'm grateful to have met him...and to have watched him carefully remove a piece of toast from a plate whilst the person seated at the plate was busy chatting. it was an exquisitely executed move. Atticus joins good company in the Dogs Above.

  8. oh Leslie, having just lost my little doxie, Karma, I send you virtual hugs... I loved seeing your photos and hearing about Atticus, since I grew up with a German Shepard, it reminded me of my sweet Lady. Atticus seemed so majestic and protective and I am heartily sorry for you and yours. xxx

  11. Oh Leslie, I am so deeply sorry for your loss, for the loss for each family member. In the four years I've been coming to visit you here, I can honestly say that your Atticus posts have been my favorite. I fell in love with him from afar. I know he will be sorely missed by all of you. Hugs to you and special hugs to the little ones and Scout who must learn of life and try to understand it.
